2023 AFCON : Agyemang Badu explains why Egypt is not the most dangerous opponent for the Black Stars of Ghana !

Former Ghana international midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu believes the Group B opponents that poses the greatest threat against the Black Stars of Ghana at next year’s Africa Cup of Nations are Mozambique and Cape Verde.

The 34th edition of the biggest soccer event on the continent takes place in Ivory Coast between 13th January 2024 and 11th February 2024.

Ghana are in Group B alongside Egypt , Mozambique and Cape Verde. The Pharaohs are the most successful national team of the tournament with seven titles won but the former Berekum Asenal and Asante Kotoko midfielder says Chris Hughton and his team should be thinking more about how to handle the other minnows.

“In the recent past , opponents like Mozambique and Cape Verde were easy for us. If this was those days , no one would have talked much about them after the draw but nowadays we have all seen how we struggle against such small national teams in Africa.”

“So for me I think Mozambique and Cape Verde are the most dangerous sides for us and we must pay great attention. As for Egypt , we know them. They have won the competition seven times , we know all that but just take a look at our recent games against the so-called small football nations in Africa and you will understand my point
” , Agyemang Badu explained on Kumasi-based Fox FM.

Indeed Ghana were defeated by Comoros in the last AFCON tournament played in Cameroon and were held by Benin in the 2019 edition in Egypt. The West African nation has failed to win the competition since their last one in 1982.
