2026 World Cup Qualification Africa: The Black Stars will start training on Thursday for the crucial 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Mali and the Central African Republic.

The Ghana FA confirmed that the team will assemble on May 30, 2024.

Head coach Otto Addo is expected to arrive in the country later on Monday and will announce the squad for the games upon his arrival.

The team will train for six days at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon before travelling to Bamako for the match against Mali.

Black Stars aim to return to winning ways after recording one win and one loss in their first two matches in Group I of the World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana opened the campaign with a 1-0 win over Madagascar in Kumasi before losing by the same margin to Comoros in Moroni.

The FIFA World Cup qualifier against Mali will take place at Stade 26 Mars in Bamako on Thursday, June 6. Ghana will then face the Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Monday, June 10, 2024.

The Black Stars are not in the best form ahead of these games, having failed to win in 2024, with two losses and three draws. They crashed out of the Africa Cup of Nations in the group stage and subsequently failed to beat Nigeria and Uganda in international friendlies in Morocco.

Otto Addo, who was appointed after the sacking of Chris Hughton, took charge of these friendlies and then returned to Dortmund to wrap up his work as a talent coach.

His arrival in Ghana signifies his full-time takeover of the national team. Addo, who qualified Ghana for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, has agreed to a 34-month contract with an option for a further 24 months.
