Badu Reacts to Ghana’s 2026 World Cup Qualification Group : Former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyeman Badu believes that the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying Group I is a “tricky one and dangerous in reality” for Chris Hughton’s Ghana national team.
The CAF draw was conducted on Thursday in Abidjan and Ghana , Mali , Madagascar , Comoros , Central African Republic and Chad were put in the same group.
“Our World Cup Group is manageable on paper but tricky and dangerous in reality. We have fallen behind the pecking order. We are no more a powerhouse in African football. We need to accept that we have struggled against all those teams in the group apart from Chad.” , the former Udinese man stated on Akoma FM.
“We must hope for a good season and playing time for our players so that it can translate into their performance for the national team. The coach [Chris Hughton] must create competition in the team to eliminate any complacency. He must establish total discipline in the team and not tolerate any egoistic behaviours. I am sure we can qualify if we do the right things.” , Agyeman Badu who played for Great Olympics in the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season added.
The Black Stars failed to come out of the group stages at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar ; losing 3-2 to Portugal , defeating South Korea by the same score line before Uruguay clinched a 2-0 win over the Ghana team.
