CAF Confederation Cup Day 2 : FAR Rabat spank ASKO Kara , Rivers United humble ASEC as TP Mazembe fall at Young Africans

2022/23 CAF Confederation Cup Day 2 Wrap : The second round of group stage matches of the 2022/23 CAF Confederation Cup took place over the weekend.

GhanaSportsMarket.com provides a wrap of all the matches that were played.

Group A

South Africa side Marumo Gallants made it two wins in as many matches as they defeated Saint-Eloi Lupopo on the road by 2-1. Mpho Mvelase put Marumo ahead in the 24th minute on the service of Lesiba Nku.

In the 42nd minute Chivaviro Ranga made it 2-0 for the visitors before Patou Kabangu pulled a goal back for the home team.

The other group A match between Al Akhdar of Libya and USM Alger of Algeria ended 1-1 at the Benina Martyrs stadium in Benghazi.

Marumo Gallants lead the group with 6 points whilst USM Algers are next with 4 points.

Group B

Rivers United recorded a strong home win over ASEC Mimosas at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo. United won by 3-0 with goals from Malachi Ohawuma , Williams Ukeme and Ngweni Denis Ndasi.

Former Hearts of Oak player Paul Acquah was in the starting line-up of the Nigerian team.

At the Estádio 11 de Novembro in Luanda , Motema Pembe were held to a 0-0 draw by Congolese side Diables Noirs.

Group C

FAR Rabat fought back from a goal down to humiliate ASKO Kara of Togo at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.

The Moroccans won by 5-1 despite conceding first. Former Ashantigold left-back Roland Amouzou started the match for the Togolese team.

Ouro Harissou put ASKO ahead in the 16th minute with a clever strike from range but the home team staged a spirited comeback.

Hrimat Mohammed equalized for FAR Rabat in the 39th minute with a header as four more goals followed from Ahmed Hammoudan , Hamza Igmane , Mustapha Sahd and Zakaria Fati.

The all-Egypt affair between Future FC and Pyramids FC ended 1-1 at the Al Ahly WE Al Salam Stadium in Cairo.

FAR Rabat thus lead the group standings with 4 points as Pyramids sit second with 2 points less.

Group D

Young Africans produced a big performance to hammer TP Mazembe by 3-1 at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Kennedy Musonda put the Tanzania team ahead in the 7th minute , Yahya Mudathir made it 2-0 just four minutes later.

Alex Ngonga pulled a goal back for Mazembe ten minutes from time but Congo striker Kisinda Tuisila sealed the victory for Young Africans with a 90th minute effort.

Meanwhile in Bamako , AS Real Bamako drew 1-1 against Tunisia side US Monastir.

The Tunisians lead the table with 4 points and they are followed by Young Africans who are second with a point less.
