Gary Lineker Suspended by BBC : Gary Lineker has been suspended from presenting the popular BBC show ‘Match of the Day’ after comparing the illegal immigration bill recently introduced by the British parliament to “a language of 1930s Germany”.
Ian Wright and Alan Shearer have announced that they are refusing to appear on the channel in solidarity with the former FC Barcelona attacker.
It is an earthquake in the world of English football , Gary Lineker, the former international striker for the Three Lions (80 caps between 1984 and 1992) now a TV consultant across the Channel, was suspended from the famous program “Match of the day” by the BBC this Friday “until that an agreement is concluded on the use of his social networks”, specifies the media.
This bill provides for the deportation “in a few weeks” of asylum seekers arriving by the Channel.
“It’s just an absolutely cruel policy directed at the most vulnerable people in language no different from that used by Germany in the 1930s,” the former Barcelona and Tottenham player pointed out.
“Gary Lineker’s recent social media activity represents a breach of our guidelines. He should avoid taking sides on political issues or controversies,” the BBC added.
Last Friday Ian Wright announced on Twitter :
“Everyone knows what Match of the day means to me but I have warned the BBC that I will not be present tomorrow (Saturday). Solidarity”, wrote the ex-Arsenal striker.
Alan Shearer made the same decision and made it official on his social networks shortly before 8 p.m. Alex Scott, also a consultant for the show, also announced her absence from the show.
In the evening, the BBC communicated that its program scheduled for Saturday evening would be without a presenter and consultants. Only the summaries of the meetings, rights paid very dearly by British public television, will be broadcast on the air.
