Kotoko Players Unhappy with CEO’s Comments : Most of the Asante Kotoko players are unhappy with the latest comments made by Chief Executive Officer of the club Nana Yaw Amponsah regarding the non-payment of their salaries on time , GhanaSportsMarket.com confidently report.
Nana Yaw Amponsah in an interview with Oyerepa Sports revealed the salaries paid to players of the club indicating that none of them is paid less than GHC 2,500 regardless of how less they were paid in their previous clubs.
The CEO’s comments have rather done more harm than good as most of the players are angered by the CEO’s comments.
They believe they do not commit any crime by asking to be paid on time.
“Just imagine a player who was previously on a 500 cedis salary in a Division One team joining Kotoko and getting paid 3,000 or 4,000 cedis. The lowest-paid player is the SHS student [Rocky Dwamena] who earns 2,500 monthly.
“So I find it intriguing if you start agitating and decide not to play well just because your salary has been delayed a little.
Because when we took office there were players who were on a 600 cedis a month salary which is about 7,200 cedis annually. Now you would be earning approximately what you got annually in just a month.
“The salary always comes even if it delays but the same cannot be said about the results if you refuse to play well and you base on that not to play your heart?” , the CEO added.
We understand the majority of players believe the CEO’s comments is a calculated plan to make them unpopular in the eyes of the numerous supporters and fans of the club.
