Aduana Supporters React to GFA Home Ban Decision : The official Supporters Union of Aduana Football Club has reacted to the decision of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to ban the Ogya Side from playing at the Dormaa Nana Agyemang Badu I Stadium (NAB I Stadium) indefinitely after Tamale City were reportedly attacked on Sunday April 2nd following their 1-0 defeat in a Ghana Premier League Week 25 match.
The incident occurred outside the NAB I Stadium according to the GFA but the association cited Article 14 (2) of the GFA Premier League Regulations to back their swift decision.
“This decision has become necessary due to the unfortunate incidents that occurred after the Match day 25 between Aduana FC and Tamale City FC (outside the park) played on April 2, 2023.
The decision is in accordance with the GFA Premier League Regulations Article 14(2) which states inter alia “the GFA may order the closure of any league centre where the safety of clubs, Match Officials or Spectators cannot be guaranteed.” , the GFA stated on Monday.
The club has not officially reacted but the supporters of the club organized a press conference on Monday to show their disapproval of the GFA decision.
Every word from Aduana FC supporters leader Kwadwo Adjei is reproduced below by GhanaSportsMarket.com :
First of all I will thank you my fellow brothers that we have been able to meet here. You all know why we are here today. Yesterday Aduana and Tamale City we played a football match here. I think a lot things happened after the game and that is why we have met here and we are very serious.
The Tamale City team arrived at the stadium at 2:50PM to play the match. They were late. Apart from that , after the 90 minutes (and the 10 additional minutes) nothing happened here at the stadium. We later heard that the GFA has banned the Aduana sports stadium.
To be honest when we heard the news it didn’t go down well with us. Because it makes us think that the GFA and Tamale City connived to do that fraud against us. Because there are some teams who do not want us to win the league and therefore they are plotting against us.
Per the statement of the GFA , the incident occurred outside the stadium and I ask if an incident happen outside the stadium how do you ban the stadium? No. That is not how things should be.
As supporters chairman I was part of the contingent that escorted the Tamale City team after the game and they left the stadium nicely , without any issues.
So later in the evening we were surprised to see some of the videos out there. The next day the GFA made this decision and we cannot accept it. When we went to Tamale City , we sent video and picture evidences to the GFA but they never said anything about that. It has been four months now and we have not heard anything from the GFA.
But for what happened after the Aduana game outside the stadium , the GFA has taken a decision within seconds. This is not a fair treatment by the GFA and this decision is bogus.
If the GFA does not want Aduana to win the league then they have to change the decision or they have to reverse the decision. This is a biased decision and a complete lack of fairness.
An incident has occurred , you have not heard Aduana’s side of the story and then you go on to decide to ban the stadium based on Tamale City’s sole account.
Now the GFA has not done any investigation. What if after conducting investigation and Aduana is not guilty of what happened , can you give the club the points we may have lost due to the home ban decision?
So if the GFA think they will investigate the matter then the best option is to halt the league till they finish their investigations and then take a final decision. But they cannot tell us something happened outside the Aduana stadium and so they are banning us from playing at home here.
We beg the GFA to stop what they are doing because we are not going to accept that from them.
The Tamale City team planned and executed what happened. Before the game we heard that they wanted military presence at the stadium. Why the military?
When we went to Tamale City (in the first round) , there were just 10 police personnel and 10 community police persons making 20 in total.
Even at pre-match conference before the game here we said 30 police men will be here for the match but when the game kicked off there were as many as 100 police here. They were even more than 100. So why should Tamale City require military presence at Dormaa? They were saying order from above. What order from above?
We beg the GFA to reverse the decision because we know that some people are behind what is happening against us.
The referee was even complaining why Tamale City only arrived at the stadium at 2:50PM (10 minutes before kick-off). They did not even go to the dressing room , they went straight to the park immediately after arriving at the venue.
After the game nothing happened here and so why is the GFA banning our stadium? This is unfair , the decision lack fairness and it a calculated attempt to make sure we do not win the league.
It is the GFA and some teams that have connived to plot against us.
The Kumasi media in particular has been very unprofessional and biased against us especially Kessben and Wontumi. Something happened overnight and the next day they crucified us without having any evidence. How can they do that?
We beg the Kumasi media. Even if the GFA has banned us from playing in Dormaa , this will change nothing for us because we even play better on the road. We are not worried about the ban but what we are saying is that the GFA must reverse the decision.
It is a wrong decision. When we went to Tamale what has happened to the referee for that non-existent penalty he awarded against us? Nothing has happened but when it involves Aduana then the GFA decides within seconds. Why should it be so?
We plead with the GFA to postpone the league and take time to conclude their findings. How can you punish us without doing any investigations for an incident that occurred outside the stadium?
