Asante Kotoko Title Chances: Asante Kotoko picked up a fourth successive victory across all competitions with a 2-1 win against Dreams FC on Saturday during Matchweek 14 of the Ghana Premier League.
Baba Yahaya opened the scoring on the 40th minute before former Bofoakwa Tano skipper Saaka Dauda made it 2-0 three minutes later.
Joseph Essso pulled one back for the hosts in the 57th at the Tub Astro Turf, but the Porcupine Warriors held on to secure all the spoils.
The win propelled Dr. Narteh Ogum’s men to 5th in the league with 24 points, three adrift of top-of-the-table Heart of Lions.
The Reds endured a torrid period that saw section of the fans call for the sacking of Dr. Ogum. The team went on a five-game winless run between 27th October and 17th November, drawing one and losing four in a row.
Goalkeeper Camara Mohammed was always in the news for wrong reasons with series of costly errors as Kotoko seemed to have run out of steam completely.
However, things started looking good for Ghana’s most successful club with the 2-0 away success at Aduana FC on 11th November. More excellent results followed such as the 2-0 FA Cup win against Future Stars, the 1-0 home win over Hearts of Oak and the recent 2-1 triumph on the road against Dreams.
The Reds survived the blip and have improved tremendously, making them one of the credible teams in the title mix once again.
