Bayern Munich Offices Raided by Money Laundering Investigators : FC Bayern Munich headquarters and stadium have been raided as authorities establish a money laundering case.
Bayern are also going through a troubled period internally, while the Oliver Kahn-Hasan Salihamidžić duo are under fire from critics following the UEFA Champions League elimination against Manchester City.
On Saturday April 29th , the German newspaper Bild revealed that the headquarters of the club, as well as the Allianz Arena were searched last Tuesday by investigators from the Federal Criminal Police Office, in cooperation with the Criminal Police Office of the Bavarian State.
The Law enforcement was actually looking for evidence in a money laundering case that involves Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov of Everton FC.
What is Bayern doing in this scandal ?
It is the links between the oligarch and Uli Hœneß that interested the investigators. According to Bild, Usmanov has been a regular VIP guest at the Bavarian club’s Champions League matches and the pair are said to be friends.
However, the Munich institution is only a witness in this story, as specified by the Frankfurt prosecutor’s office to Bild:
“Our authority is not carrying out any investigation or sanction procedure against FC Bayern Munich or officials or club members. »
