Bechem United Defeat Kotoko

Bechem United Defeat Kotoko : Bechem United imposed the first league defeat of the season on Asante Kotoko on Thursday afternoon in an outstanding league match.

Kotoko substitute Stephen Amankona who entered the game at the 57th minute was sent off in the 90th after receiving two yellow cards.

The outstanding Match-week Two game took place today in Bechem as goals from defender Kofi Agbesimah and striker Emmanuel Avornyo were enough for the home side to claim all the maximum points.

Agbesimah put his side ahead in the 23rd minute from the spot before Avornyo made it 2-0 three minutes after the hour mark. The latter cleverly combined with the highly-rated Clinton Duodu to the consolidate Bechem’s lead.

The defeat is the first in the league for the defending champions and their second in all events following the home reverse against RC Kadiogo in the CAF Champions League.

Bechem have now moved to 8th place on the league standings with 6 points in 4 games whilst the champions remain at 5th place with 7 points after the same number of matches played.

The match was also Kotoko’s first league match of the season outside the Babayara stadium.
