Black Galaxies Player Ratings: Ghana were held at home 0-0 by Nigeria in their 2024 Africa Cup of Nations qualification series on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Ghana Sports Market’s Gariba Raubil covered the match and has rated the performance of the Black Galaxies players.
GK Benjamin Asare — 6/10: Made a couple of good saves to keep the Nigerians from scoring, but was completely stunned in the 56th when Nigeria came very close to open the scoring with a powerful Mustapha Papa strike that came off the upright. That was a huge moment.
RB Kamaradini Mamudu — 6/10: A decent performance from the Medeama man. Provided some fine crosses into the box.
LB Isaac Afful — 6/10: Made some good clearances and blocks, though he struggled in the second period when Nigeria attacked via the right flank most often.
CB Razak Simpson — 6/10: Put up a solid display at the back as he hardly put a foot wrong.
CB Ebenezer Abban — 6/10: If he and Razak continue like this, the duo will be such an impregnable central defensive unit to break.
DM Issah Yakubu —5.5/10: Had an excellent first half, but his influence on the game dwindled in the second half as he was replaced.
CM Hafiz Ibrahim —5/10: Was not a bright performance from the Attram de Visser midfielder and was one of the players who were substituted in the second half by Didi Dramani.
CM Manuel Mantey — 6/10: Didn’t see much from the Medeama anchor man until he was taken off in the second period.
LF Stephen Amankona — 6/10: The Berekum Chelsea attacker, who netted 19 times in the 2023-24 GPL, came into the game with five league strikes this season. However, Amankona failed to make any significant impact and was bundled out in the second period.
CF Albert Amoah — 6/10: The Asante Kotoko forward made plenty of forward runs, but was hardly served any great deliveries.
RF Mustapha Yakubu — 6/10: The Heart of Lions striker was promising, but like his fellow attackers, there were very limited supplies to pounce on.
Subs:
Derrick Fordjour — 5/10: Tried his best to make things happen, but was unsuccessful.
Jerry Afriyie — 5/10: Brought energy to the team’s attack, however, could not make any difference.
Emmanuel Antwi — 5/10: Brought some calmness in the midfield and was excellent with his passing.
Abdul Karim — 5/10: Came on to get some playing time, but did not offer anything substantial.
