Black Galaxies Search for CHAN Qualification in Nigeria: The paths of Ghana and Nigeria have crossed again after the Black Galaxies drew their 2024 Africa Cup of Nations qualification home leg 0-0 to Nigeria at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The encounter, which was watched by the iconic Abedi Ayew, failed to produced any goals as Nigeria came very close in the second half, hitting the upright with Benjamin Asare beaten completely.
Didi Dramani and his team now need to secure qualification against the Nigerians in the same way Otto Addo and his Black Stars selection did in March 2022 against the Super Eagles.
Following a 0-0 outcome in the first leg of the 2022 FIFA World Cup playoffs in the CAF Zone against Nigeria at the Kumasi Baba Yara Sports Stadium, the Ghanaian national men’s team drew 1-1 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium to snatch their Qatar 2022 ticket.
In a similar way, the Black Galaxies face the daunting task of picking up their CHAN 2024 berth with a win or a scoring draw against Nigeria on 26th December.
Ghana, who lost the maiden CHAN final in 2009 to Dr. Congo and the 2014 final to Libya, failed to qualify from the group stage in the last edition of the tournament held in Algeria.
