Black Stars Team Manager Wanted Otto Addo to Continue : Ameenu Shadow, the team manager of Ghana’s national men’s team, the Black Stars, says the team would have been better if Otto Addo continued as head coach.
Addo , a former Ghana international , led the Black Stars to secure an important qualification against rivals Nigeria in the 2022 FIFA World Cup Play-off.
The Borussia Dortmund coach then oversaw Ghana’s fourth ever FIFA World Cup participation in Qatar where the team lost 3-2 to Portugal , defeated South Africa by the same score line before losing to Uruguay by 2-0 to exit the competition after group play.
“We would have been better if Otto Addo stayed as Black Stars coach. I have always said it that Otto Addo made mistakes at the World Cup because he hadn’t been there before.
“Otto Addo is someone who learns on the job and Ghana would have been better if he had continued with his job as Black Stars head coach”, he told 3Sports.
Chris Hughton who was technical advisor to Addo succeeded the latter as new Ghana boss. The Black Stars have played three 2023 AFCON qualifying games under the former Brighton and Holve Albion manager ; a 1-0 win against Angola in Kumasi , a 1-1 draw against the same team in Luanda and a 0-0 draw away at Madagascar.
