Bofoakwa Tano Wins Promotion to the Ghana Premier League : Bofoakwa Tano have qualified for the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season after edging out Techiman Eleven Wonders on penalties on Tuesday evening in Accra.
The Zone 1 play-off final ended 1-1 after 120 minutes.
The Access Bank Division One League Zone One playoffs failed to be produce a winner in regulation time as the the nerve wracking match ended 1-1 after 120 minutes.
Leslie Aryeetey opened the scoring in the 7th minute with a well-taken seven minutes with a well penalty. But Osman Zackaria equalized for Techiman Eleven Wonders, one minute after the break to make it 1-1.
Neither side was able to find the winning goal in regulation time as referee Latif Adaari whistled for the end of proceedings.
The game travelled beyond 120 minutes resulting in the match being decided on penalties. Bofoakwa Tano ultimately won the shootouts 7-6 to secure their long-awaited return to the elite League.
The Sunyani based side joins Kpando Heart of Lions in the Premier League.
Bofo got relegated from the country’s elite league at the end of the 2006/07 season and after sixteen years the Green and White side are back to the top-flight.
