Boxing Promoter suspended for 2 years for making noise in Accra !

Boxing Promoted Suspended for 2 years over Noise Making : The Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) has handed down a two-year suspension to Chief Executive Officer of Box Office Sports Alex Ntiamoah following his involvement in a violation of the ban on drumming and noise making, as instructed by the Ga State and the Accra Metropolitan Assembly.

In a statement released by the GBA, it was announced that Ntiamoah’s license as a Promoter and Manager has been formally withdrawn and he will be suspended for a period of two years, effective from Monday, June 26th, 2023.

The GBA’s decision to impose the ban stems from Ntiamoah’s failure, along with Splendor 3 (S3) Boxing Promotions, to comply with the imposed restrictions.

They proceeded to organize a boxing event in Accra on Sunday, May 28, 2023, despite the agreed-upon location being Ashaiman.

The statement read, “Given the serious misconduct, disrespect, and insubordination nature of his offence in connivance with Splendor 3 (S3) Boxing Promotion, GBA has revoked his license and that of Splendor 3 (S3) Boxing Promotion after both of them were found guilty by the Arbitration/Disciplinary Committee for misconduct.”

The GBA further highlighted that Ntiamoah had previously been allowed to go unpunished for similar actions, demonstrating a disregard for decisions made by the authority.

The recent violation of the ban on drumming and noise-making during the Ga State’s Homowo festival prompted the GBA to take a stricter stance.

“This marks the second time Ntiamoah has committed the same offence, leading to the GBA’s decision to impose a two-year suspension,” the statement added.

Ntiamoah, known for his prominent role in local boxing promotions, has organised some of the most significant fights in Ghana, including Bastie Samir vs Bukom Banku and Ayitey Powers vs Bukom Banku.
