Evans Adotey’s Tactical Explanations After Kotoko Win : Medeama SC head coach Augustine Evans Adotey has offered detailed tactical explanations about how he and his team succeeded in defeating Asante Kotoko at the Babayara sports stadium on Sunday night during Week 23 of the betPawa Ghana Premier League.
Jonathan Sowah netted the opener in the 15th minute and Vincent Atingah made it 2-0 from the spot in the 76th minute.
The Yellow and Mauves move to the 4th position on the league table with 37 points in 23 games played whilst Kotoko are now 7th place with their 34 points in 22 matches contested.
Evans Adotey , who is the third different head coach Medeama have seen this season , reacted to the big result in his post-match interview and said the following :
On the 2-0 victory :
“Well I said earlier , I told you football or game plan or mapping strategy is all about setting objectives right. My main objective for this particular game was to claim the maximum points and that exactly happened.
On his tactical approach :
But as to talking of tactics we came with a game plan to attack and defend as well. You saw we started playing two strikers and that enabled us to score a goal.
And then after recess we decided to sit back and come on the counter , it also worked for my team and finally we got two goals and we decided to bring on defensive minded players to come and make sure we maintain the lead two goals without conceding.
On Medeama title chances :
We are tackling our matches game by game. All that I needed was claiming the three points today and Wednesday we are going back and make sure we give it to Bibiani Gold Stars as well and that will ensure our readiness to climb the top of the table.
On his defence :
It was a well rehearsed game plan. We decided to come here not to concede a goal. We want to score but we don’t want to concede. So we came with a mind to defend and attack and attack to defend and that is what exactly gave us the maximum points.
