Former Bundesliga Player Becomes MMA Fighter : Former Bundesliga player Kevin Pannewitz ( 31 years old ) will try his luck in MMA after failing to make it in football. The German intends to become a fighter in this discipline and is aiming for an event set up in the autumn by OKTAGON MMA, a combat organization in Europe.
For this, he will have to lose more than 50 kilos in just 6 months, his category not accepting athletes over 83 kilos.
He weighed 139 before his intensive training and drastic diet began three weeks ago. Pannewitz also explains to Bild his career choice:
“I want to prove to everyone but also to myself that everything is possible with willpower” , Pannewitz said.
The German daily, which reports this information, even announces that Martin Fenin (35), himself a former Bundesliga player who passed through Eintracht Frankfurt from 2008 to 2011, will be his opponent.
Pannewitz’s career was not successful as Bild tells. Considered one of the greatest talents of his country when he was young, he faced alcohol problems and was overweight.
When he signed in 2012 at VfL Wolfsburg, his contract was terminated a few months later and he was even caught in the summer of 2013 drunk and half-naked in the apartment of a stranger.
New alcohol problems bury his career as a professional footballer.
In 2021, having become a mover at that time, he weighs nearly 140 kilos. He will subsequently experience success in a television program and establish a reputation on social networks. He would also coach at Delay Sports, a regional German club.
