AS Monaco striker Wissam Ben Yedder was indicted for rape, attempted rape and sexual assault on Thursday three days before the resumption of Ligue 1 against Clermont.
The Monegasque striker is accused by two young women.
Breel Embolo is injured in the knee and absent for several months, AS Monaco will also have to manage the thorny file of Wissam Ben Yedder.
The ASM striker was indicted for “rape, attempted rape and sexual assault” this Thursday according to information from the Nice-Matin newspaper, confirmed by the Nice prosecutor’s office to BFM Côte d’Azur and RMC Sport.
The French international with 19 caps (3 goals) is accused by two young women of having abused them on the sidelines of an evening, on July 10, in Beausoleil in the Alpes-Maritimes.
The striker, who will celebrate his 33rd birthday this Saturday, was presented to an investigating judge at the Nice court on Thursday.
Ben Yedder placed under judicial control
The deputy public prosecutor of Nice has confirmed the opening of a judicial investigation against Wissam Ben Yedder for the same charges and the investigation has been entrusted to the PJ of Nice.
Placed under judicial supervision but released on bail (set at 900,000 euros), the former Toulouse and Sevilla player is not the only person in the sights of justice in this case.
The player’s little brother, a 25 year old , was also indicted for the same facts, still following this evening in early July.
Before this indictment by the Nice prosecutor’s office, Wissam Ben Yedder had been training normally since the start of the week with the rest of the Monegasque squad in anticipation of the trip to Clermont on Sunday, during the first day of Ligue 1.
Captain of ASM last season, Wissam Ben Yedder completed the the season with 25 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions.
