Bankroller of King Faisal FC Alhaji Grusah has vowed to stop the 2023 Presidential elections following the disqualification of one of the presidential candidates , George Afriyie.
The former vice-president of the association was disqualified by the Elections Committee after failing to get five member clubs to endorse his nomination. He appealed against the decision which also failed as Kurt Okraku is set to go unopposed.
“Pursuant to Article 33 of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Statutes 2019, the Executive Council of the Association has decided that the Extraordinary Session of Congress (Elective Congress) shall be rescheduled to Thursday, October 5, 2023 at 9:00 o’clock in the forenoon at the Global Dream Hotel, Tamale.” , the GFA announced on Tuesday.
However , the outspoken Grusah said on Oyerepa FM that he will make sure the election process does not take place.
“The case has been adjourned to 28th September and I am okay. I have always been okay since the case started.”
“I am not surprised that George Afriyie is disqualified. Look at the members of the committee who sat on the case , how many of them are doing football. I don’t even know. But they have done well (sarcastically). When you called me , you said I am the founder of King Faisal FC. What about those who disqualified George Afriyie , they are not part of the football family. The only persons I know is Jakpasu and the former journalist. The rest are zero to me”
“But let me say that this will never happen that George Afriyie will not be part of the elections. That will never happen. How many years has George been the vice chairman of the GFA , he became chairman of the Black Stars. He and Kurt Okraku contested in 2019.”
