Ghana’s 4×100 relay team: The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has pledged full support to Ghana’s national men’s 4x100m relay team ahead of the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan. The event will take place from September 13 to 21, bringing together top athletes from around the world.
The GOC is also calling on corporate bodies and state institutions to invest in the relay team as they prepare for the global stage.
To help boost performance, the GOC has sponsored the team’s training camp, showing its commitment to supporting athletics in Ghana.
The team includes Ghana’s top seven sprinters:
-
Abdul-Rasheed Saminu
-
Benjamin Azamati
-
Ibrahim Fuseini
-
Barnabas Aggerh
-
Mustapha Bokpin
-
Isaac Botsio
-
Joe Paul Amoah (Captain)
They will train in Texas, USA, at Texas A&M University–Commerce under Coach George Pincock. The camp is organized by Ghana Athletics, with financial support from the GOC.
With the championships approaching, the team is focused on:
-
Perfecting baton exchanges
-
Improving speed, technique, and endurance
They will train intensely to be in top form for Tokyo.
GOC President, Richard Akpokavie, said:
“We are proud to support our relay team. We believe in their potential and know they can shine on the world stage.”
He added:
“These athletes have been consistent. They bring joy to Ghanaians every time they compete. But GOC support alone is not enough. I urge the whole nation to back them. Their success is Ghana’s success.”
This is not the first time GOC has supported national athletes. Earlier, they extended similar help to armwrestling, badminton, rugby, rowing, table tennis, volleyball, bodybuilding, GUSA, and others.
This ongoing support is part of GOC’s effort to develop sports across disciplines and help Ghanaian athletes succeed internationally.
