GFA to Sue Betting Companies: Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has threatened legal action against betting companies operating in the country over their illegal betting lines on Ghana Premier League matches.
According to the GFA boss, no betting company has been authorized to offer odds on Ghana Premier League (GPL) matches.
Available bookmakers that accept Ghanaian bettors includes betPawa, former headline sponsors of the Ghana Premier League.
“We have not licensed any betting company to take odds on our games,” Okraku said during the 30th Ordinary Congress in Prampram on Tuesday.
“We are going to empower our legal department to confront this issue head-on. It is not okay for betting companies to feed on our football.”
The GFA President was quick to add the association are open to partnering with bookmakers to get them officially registered in order to offer the country’s top-tier games for their customers to wager on.
“It is time to say no to such companies. We are open to doing it the legal way. We will invite companies who want to partner with us to speak to us.”
