Haaland Scores Five Times to Sets Records : Erling Haaland was in a devastating form on Tuesday night as he netted five times against RB Leipzig in Manchester City’s 7-0 masterclass against the Bundesliga side in their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second leg.
The first leg ended 1-1 but City put up an ultra attacking show to dismantle their hosts as the former Borussia Dortmund attacker shatter a number of records.
The Norwegian scored from the spot in the 22nd minute to put Pep Guardiola’s team ahead. He made it 2-0 and 3-0 in the 24th and 45th minutes as City went into the break with a 3-0 lead.
In the second period more goals followed. Ilkay Gundogan in the 49th minute , Haaland in the 53rd , Haaland again in the 57th and Kevin de Bruyne in the 90th minute.
Haaland became City’s all-time top scorer in a single season on 39 goals in 36 games and he will surely add more strikes.
His 10 goals in the Champions League this season is all an all-time record at Manchester City. No other player has managed to score as many goals in one Champions League campaign for City.
“My super strength is scoring goals,” Haaland told BT Sport.
“A lot of it is being quick in the mind and trying to put it where the goalkeeper is not.
“I was so tired after my celebrations.”
Also his tally of five against Leipzig equalled the record for the most goals in a Champions League game alongside Lionel Messi for Barcelona against Bayer Leverkusen in 2012, and Luiz Adriano for Shakhtar Donetsk against BATE Borisov in 2014.
