Mohammed Kudus began the season with an impressive performance as he helped Ajax fight back from a goal down to win convincingly over Heracles in their opening league match.
Despite the Black Stars midfielder generating conversations in the current transfer window, his professionalism was evident as he served fans with another captivating performance for the Dutch giants.
Ajax began the game slowly and unfortunately conceded on the 45th-minute mark through Mario Engels who capitalised on a defensive blunder to shoot his team into the lead.
But Ajax responded positively by scoring the equaliser before the half-time whistle sounded thanks to a stunning striker by Jakov Medic who scored a wonderful goal on his debut.
It was later Kudus’ turn in the 75th minute as the 23-year-old versatile attacker received a fine pass in the box and curled it to the far post to give his team the lead with a goal that set the pace for a big win.
Steven Bergwijn joined the show with two late goals including a penalty in injury time to ensure Ajax secured a 4-1 win in their first league match of the season.
Kudus’ important goal signals a continuation of a remarkable campaign last season which has already made him a wanted player by top European teams with Premier League clubs Brighton and Hove Albion and Chelsea said to be keen on getting the talented player before the summer window ends.
