Chief scout of Hearts of Oak Sebastian Barnes says he was a main part of the recruitment team of the Phobians for the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season including under-fire striker Ramos Kashala Wanet.
The Congo attacker was one of the best Hearts of Oak players during pre-season after scoring at least six goals but the Phobians are struggling to score goals in the Ghanaian championship. The team of Martin Koopman have scored just a goal in four matches and that effort came from the boots of Kashala against Nsoatreman FC on September 24th in Accra.
Hearts of Oak are placed 13th on the league standings with two points and Barnes has said what he thinks is the reason why the team is not functioning well at the moment.
“As for me my job was to scout players, recommend to the club and that is what I did. You know the technical team is new and most of the players too are also new so it will take time for the team to start to know each other. I think with time things will begin to be nice, there is more room for improvement.” , he said.
Barnes also revealed he played a significant role in the transfer activity of the Phobians for the current season.
“I was part of everything in terms of the new players who arrived this season. The likes of Karikari, Kashala and all of them I was part. I was the advisor to the technical director and we did everything together. You can see that is a combination of young and experienced players and with time, Hearts of Oak will do well” , the Chief scout of Hearts of Oak said.
