King Faisal Are Bound for Relegation : King Faisal Football Club and Accra Great Olympics were admitted into the Ghana Premier League during the 2019/20 edition after the Ghana Football Association congress voted to expand the country’s elite soccer league from 16 teams to 18.
Faisal and Olympics who were both Division One clubs were handed promotions to the Ghanaian top-flight league competition , a decision that ultimately ended couple of legal actions involving the beneficiary clubs as they contested their relegation from the 2013/14 (King Faisal) and 2016/18 (Great Olympics) seasons.
However after staying in the premier competition for three successive seasons , Faisal are bound for relegation in the current campaign.
The club of Alhaji Karim Grusah are 17th placed on the league standings with 36 points in 31 games and they face league leaders Medeama SC on Friday afternoon in Tarkwa.
The current form of the Yellow and Mauves under head coach Augustine Evans Adotey means they are big favorites for most of their matches especially those on home soil.
Medeama have never won the Ghana Premier League since their inception in 2008 after Moses Armah Parker bought Kessben FM and later renamed the club as Medeama Sporting Club.
It will be a massive failure if Adotey and his team fail to annex their maiden Ghana Premier League silverware but King Faisal will be plotting to cause a serious upset this afternoon.
A win for King Faisal in Tarkwa will see them on 39 points same as Great Olympics and Tamale City and this means Faisal will still hope for results of these sides to go bad if they are to have any realistic chance of avoiding the drop.
The remaining fixtures of the team is something tough. After the Medeama encounter this afternoon , Faisal play at home against Legon Cities before closing their season at Real Tamale United in Tamale.
Meanwhile Ignatius OseI-Fosu and his players will contest the 2023 MTN FA Cup final against Dreams FC but for the Insha Allahu Boys , their full focus now goes into making sure they play in the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League.
