Kotoko Pocket Over 200K USD From FIFA After 2022 FIFA WC : Asante Kotoko are the Ghanaian club to receive the second highest amount of money from FIFA’s Club Benefits Programme of the 2022 FIFA World Cup and this is thanks to goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad’s selection to the tournament.
Danlad and then Hearts of Oak striker Daniel Afriyie Barnieh were the only local players in the 26-man squad of Otto Addo for the World Cup finals in Qatar.
Clubs are compensated for each day players remain in the competition, including official preparation period. For the first time, clubs were able to apply digitally via FIFA Professional Football Landscape.
The compensation is be paid to all clubs for which the footballer has played in the two years prior to the FIFA World Cup 2022.
The Club Benefits Programme is part of a broader collaboration agreement between FIFA and the European Club Association, which was first launched ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup and further extended in 2015 to cover both the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups.
