Latest News on Mbappe-PSG Standoff as of July 17th – Kylian Mbappé is expected this Monday to join PSG’s pre-season training at the new training center in Poissy.
Since the announcement of his non-activation of his clause to extend until 2025 and Nasser Al-Khelaïfi’s press coup, the situation has not changed : the player wants to stay in Paris this season, while the Parisian management gave him an ultimatum to extend or leave.
It is therefore this Monday that Kylian Mbappé is expected in Poissy, the location of PSG’s new ultra-modern training center to join his teammates.
Most of the Parisians had resumed on July 10th but the internationals benefited from an additional week off as the captain of the Blues of France visited Cameroon , the country of origin of his father.
His return is obviously eagerly awaited. After weeks of drama around his non-extension, this Monday will mark a new episode in the tensions between the player and the Parisian management. Since his choice not to activate his clause providing for the extension of his contract until 2025, nothing has really changed for the 24-year-old striker.

On July 5th , on the sidelines of the presentation of Luis Enrique as the new PSG coach, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi spoke publicly about his club for the first time in several months. Asked about the Mbappé file, the Parisian president was offensive, issuing an ultimatum to his star : either Mbappé extends or he is sold this summer.

“He must decide quickly. Next week, within ten days at the latest… maximum in two weeks! And if he does not want to sign, the door is open, then launched Al-Khelaïfi. It is valid for him as for the others by the way. The club is bigger than anyone. There is no one bigger than the club, no one, including myself.”
This period of ten days has therefore expired. And PSG is still awaiting Kylian Mbappé’s definitive response to this ultimatum. How would PSG react if Kylian Mbappé still stick to his guns?
In his letter sent to the club, the player, at the end of his contract in 2024, announced that he did not want to extend. In his entourage, no one said anything else.
