“We will not be relegated. Trust me” – Legon Cities boss Maxwell Konadu after 1-1 Kotoko draw

Legon Cities Eliminated from the FA Cup : There is just one objective remaining for Maxwell Konadu and Legon Cities in the 2022/23 season and that is to make sure they play in the Ghana Premier League next season following their MTN FA Cup elimination at Dreams FC on Friday.

Things got worse for Cities in Dawu.

After their painful 3-2 loss at Bibiani Gold Stars over the weekend , the team of Maxwell Konadu were dumped out of the Cup competition at the quarter-final stage by Karim Zito’s Dreams FC.

Emmanuel Adade scored an extra time winning goal for the Still Believe lads as they defeated Cities by 1-0 at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu in a quarter-final match of the MTN FA Cup.

The Premier League sides ended the normal 90 minutes 0-0 as the game was pushed into extra time.

Adade finally broke the deadlock in the 113th minute with a brilliant solo effort as Dreams held on to win by 1-0 to reach the semi-finals of the 2022/23 Cup competition.

Cities full focus now goes into making sure they avoid relegation from the top-flight league this season.

“It was a good game by all standard. We kept pushing and pushing till the end. The boys played their hearts out today and I am proud of them.

We have one thing on our mind to go all out in the league and survive.” , Legon Cities head coach Maxwell Konadu said after the game.

Legon Cities are placed 16th on the Ghana Premier League standings with 28 points in 25 games played but Konadu has consistently assured fans of the club that the team will play in the Premier League next season.

What next for Legon Cities?

Cities now play at home against Kotoku Royals on Week 26 , they travel to Karela United in Anyinase , back at home against Accra Lions before going back to Dawu to take on Dreams FC again during Week 29 of the league season.
