Match Preview : Legon Cities drop to relegation zone ahead of Kotoko clash on Thursday as Gazale eyes a strong start

Legon Cities vs Kotoko Match Preview on March 30th : The Ghana Premier League Week 24 victories of Kin Faisal FC and Tamale City FC have seen Legon Cities drop to the relegation zone ahead of their home clash against Asante Kotoko on Thursday.

The team of Maxwell Konadu is under pressure to win against the Porcupine Warriors in order to move up on the the league standings after Week 24.

The champions of Ghana on the other side desperately need a reaction following the 2-0 home defeat Medeama SC imposed on them during Week 23 at the Babayara sports stadium.

Maxwell Konadu and his players are aware that they will need a really strong performance to collect all the maximum points today at the El Wak stadium. Cities have won just one of their last seven league matches ; losing three games and drawing three and this is clearly a problem for the home team.

Konadu managed Asante Kotoko in two separate stints with his last tenure ending in a sack on 18th December 2020.

The former striker of the Porcupine Warriors was fired following a Ghana Premier League Week 5 home defeat against Great Olympics at the Accra sport stadium on 17th December 2020.

The current Legon Cities manager only lasted six games in all competitions in the 2020/21 season under the early tenure of Nana Yaw Amponsah as Kotoko CEO.

Meanwhile Thursday’s match is of great importance to interim Kotoko head coach Abdulai Gazale who would want to let is bosses know that he can deliver the goods if he is given the job on full time basis.

Kotoko Team News :

Top scorer Steve Mukwala on 10 goals this season across all competitions is back from international duty with Uganda and will make the Matchday squad for the game.

The attacker was an 89th minute substitute for Uganda Cranes in their 1-0 win at Tanzania at Dar es Salaam during Match-Day Four of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification.

However Justice Blay, Dickson Afoakwa, and Rashid Nortey will not be available for selection as they are still recovering from their respective injuries.

The match kick off 15 : 00 GMT and will be telecast live on Adepa TV on Star Times.
