Luis Enrique Drops Ousmane Dembele: Paris Saint – Germain head coach Luis Enrique has reportedly axed Ousmane Dembele from his PSG squad for their Champions League Matchweek Two fixture against Arsenal on Tuesday.
According to French outlet L’Equipe, the former Barcelona winger has fallen out with manager Luis Enrique following Les Parisiens’ 3-1 Ligue 1 victory against Stade Rennes on Saturday.
Dembele assisted PSG’s opening goal before being substituted on 82 minutes. However, the former Dortmund attacker was involved in an unpalatable argument with the Spanish boss.
The French winger helped his team defeat Girona 1-0 during the first Matchweek of the league phase of the Champions League, but he will not play against the Gunners tomorrow per the reports.
The Spaniard has decided to omit Ousmane Dembele from the side that will take on Arsenal is a huge show of authority despite the lack of knowledge regarding what their row was actually about.
The club released a list of 22 players selected for the Arsenal match that did not include Dembélé.
Arsenal were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw at Atalanta last time out in Europe and Mikel Arteta says he and his team are looking forward to this huge clash.
“We are looking forward to it,” Arteta said at his pre-match press conference. “These are the kind of nights we want to experience against an unbelievable opponent. We are ready for it.
“Everyone is looking forward to it. We missed it for a number of years and last year was the first where we could do it. The group stage is a bit different this season.
“The opposition we are facing tomorrow is probably the highest level you can find European football. But it is a great opportunity for us to see how we deal with it and how prepared we are and how we can impose ourselves in this kind of context.”
