Manchester City 4 Liverpool 1 : Mohamed Salah on target for The Reds as Mahrez gets an assist for The Cityzens

Manchester City Spank Liverpool 4-1 on Saturday : Manchester City came from a goal down to thrash Liverpool by 4-1 during a Week 29 match of the 2022/23 English Premier League on Saturday and the Cityzens did so without club and Premier League top scorer Erling Haaland who missed the game through injury.

The team of Pep Guardiola had 17 shots and 8 were on target against a single shot on target of Jurgen Klopp’s team.

Egypt winger Mohamed Salah put Liverpool ahead at the Etihad stadium after 17 minutes but Argentina striker Julain Alvarez equalized for City ten minutes later as the first half ended 1-1.

Salah’s goal was the only shot on target for the 2020 English champions as City completely dominated the game in both halves.

Playmaker Kevin De Bruyne netted at the start of the second period thanks to an assist by Algeria international Riyad Mahrez.

Ilkay Gundogan made it 3-1 for Man City in the 53rd before De Bruyne assisted Jack Grealish to seal the humiliation in the 74th minute.

City’s front four players were in devastating form ; Alvarez up front surrounded by Grealish on the left , Mahrez on the right and chief creator De Bruyne operating through the middle most of the times.

The Manchester side are still second on the Premier League standings on 64 points taken from 28 games played. Arsenal who lead the table on 69 points will restore their 8-point lead if they beat Leeds United this afternoon at the Emirates Stadium.
