Manchester City to Sign Joško Gvardiol for 90 million Euros : Joško Gvardiol will be a Manchester City player in a few hours. The English club have reached an agreement with Leipzig for the transfer of the 21-year-old Croatian central defender, reports Fabrizio Romano.
The amount of the transfer would be 90 million euros, while the contract would be a “long-term”. The player is expected to must join Manchester City by the close of the week as he undergoes his medical examination on Friday.
The Premier League champions have been in long-running negotiations with Bundesliga giants RB Leipzig after first registering interest in the Croatia international defender following his exploits at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
While personal terms were not an issue with the 21-year-old, who has been keen on a move to the Etihad Stadium for several months, talks over a transfer fee proved more problematic for Manchester City officials.
That was until this week, when a breakthrough between the two clubs arrived and Manchester City verbally agreed a deal for Josko Gvardiol at the €90 million mark – making him the second most expensive defender of all-time, behind Harry Maguire.
Now, Manchester City fans can expect to welcome Gvardiol to the north-west of England on Thursday night, with the formalities of a deal set to be completed throughout the course of Friday and prior to the Community Shield showdown with Arsenal on Sunday.
Supporters on social media have now spotted via a flight tracking website that a private jet is scheduled to travel from Leipzig to Manchester on Thursday night.
As per FlightRadar24, a Cessna 680A Citation Latitude is scheduled to make the trip from Leipzig to Manchester at 8:45PM local time, with a scheduled arrival in the north-west of England approaching 9:30PM.
The aircraft – which is privately owned – will begin it’s journey on Thursday in Hannover, travelling to Leipzig, before moving onwards to Manchester, and returning to it’s original departure hub on the same night.
In further confirmation, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has also stated that Manchester City and RB Leipzig have now signed documents, confirming Josko Gvardiol’s status as a new player in Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad.
Romano has also clarified that Gvardiol will travel to Manchester on Thursday night, undergoing his medical with the club on Friday.
