Match Report – Karela United 3 Hearts of Oak 0 : Ten-man Phobians hammered in Anyinase as Konadu Yiadom scores a bad own goal

Karela United 3 Hearts of Oak 0 Match Report : Karela United saw one of their best performances of the 2022/23 betPawa Ghana Premier League as they humbled Hearts of Oak in Anyinase with a 3-0 master-class on Saturday.

Karela dominated for more parts of the game and deserve the victory.

Hearts of Oak left back Rashid Okine was sent off in the 43rd minute when the Phobians were losing by 2-0 already.

Emmanuel Owusu Boakye struck in the 17th minute to put Karela ahead with a clever header in the Hearts area.

In the 32nd minute defender Konadu Yiadom horribly headed former Hearts captain Fatawu Mohammed’s cross into his own net when he attempted to clear out the dangerous cross.

The 43rd minute red card of Okine made things more complicated for Hearts of Oak who suffered their first defeat since assistant coach David Ocloo took charge of the team with head coach Slavko Matic told to stay away from the Continental Club Masters.

The home team took advantage of the numerical edge and scored a third goal with three minutes from time and this time it was Richard Berko who shook the back of the net.

The defeat is the sixth of the league season for the 2020/21 champions of Ghana whilst Karela United stay away from the relegation zone with 29 points at the 11th position.
