SIGNIFICANT INVESTMENT : Brighton to make Mohammed Kudus their all-time most expensive player !

Mohammed Kudus To Become Brighton’s Most Expensive Player : Premier League side Brighton have agreed a £35million fee with Ajax for Mohammed Kudus as the Ghanaian is set to become the most expensive player ever bought by the English club.

Talks are ongoing for the Ghana international who has been a target for Brighton all summer but has also had interest from Chelsea and Arsenal.

The 23-year old, who can play behind the striker or as a winger, had told Ajax he did not wish to sign a new contract and decided a move this summer would be best for all parties.

The Seagulls are hoping to finalise details over the coming days.

Kudus, who started his career with Danish side Nordsjælland before moving to Ajax, had an impressive return of 11 goals and three assists in the Eredivise last year.

However, it was the youngster’s performances in Qatar last year – during the World Cup – that really drew attention to the Ghana midfielder.

The 23-year-old scored two goals for the Black Stars during their three Group Stage matches, before the African nation were eventually sent home.

Previous reports had suggested that Kudus had been a target for west London side Chelsea, who were looking to bolster their attacking options.

It’s likely that his arrival coincides with the departure of Alexis Mac Allister earlier in the transfer window, who secured a lucrative move to Liverpool.

Kudus was snapped up by Ajax in 2020 for £8m after impressing during his time at former club FC Nordsjaelland.

In three years with the Dutch giants, the midfielder has managed to record 23 goals from 84 games and has won two Eredivisie titles.

Ghanaian Players Who Broke the Records :

On 14 August 2005, Lyon and Chelsea agreed a £24.4 million fee for Essien, ending one of the longest-running transfer sagas. At the time, the fee made Essien Chelsea’s most expensive signing of all time, surpassing the £24 million Chelsea paid for Didier Drogba the previous summer. The transfer went through on 19 August. The transfer came under scrutiny in the Stevens inquiry report, which expressed concerns because of the lack of co-operation from agents Pini Zahavi and Barry Silkman.

On 8 August 2016, Andre Ayew signed for West Ham United for a then club record fee of £20.5 million on a three-year contract, with the option of an extra two years.

Kudus is set to become the latest Ghanaian player to break the transfer records of an European team.
