Former Hearts of Oak general manager Neil Armstrong-Mortagbe gives his opinion on Alhaji Akanbi and Odotei Sowah !

Neil Armstrong-Mortagbe Speaks on Akanbi and Odotei-Sowah : Hearts of Oak board members , Alhaji Brimah Akanbi and Vincent Odotei-Sowah , have become unpopular at the club over the years as a number of Phobians continue to call for their exit.

The Continental Club Masters were nearly relegated from Ghana Premier League last season which was quiet an eventful one for the Accra-based side.

First Samuel Boadu was sacked as head coach on 27th September , secondly his successor Slavko Matic was chased out of the club by some Hearts supporters as interim head coach David Ocloo took over and completed the season with Hearts of Oak finishing embarrassingly 12th.

However , former general manager Neil Armstrong-Mortagbe , wants to see a united front as he answered a question posed to him about the current fans pressure against the duo of Akanbi and Odotei.

“As for we the supporters of Hearts of Oak , our commentary on our leadership did not start today. It has always been there. Even when I was National Chapters Committee chairman , at some point , we also raised our voice against some of the decisions of the club but maybe we had our way of presenting our issues to the board.” , the founder of The Naymort Group told Kumasi-based Fox FM on Thursday.

He continued :

“Our father Ato Ahwoi was the board chairman and later on Commodore Mensah and they all gave us audience and we moved on and so my simple advice for those who might issues against some of our directors is that they should find ways to work together , you can never have the same opinion on how the club should be run. But one thing remain and that is there is only one Accra Hearts of Oak , there is only one Phobia.”

“Whilst I can understand the supporters , I just want to plead with them to find ways to accommodate different opinion and also find ways to work with our leaders because people will come and go but the supporters are always there. I want to see a stronger national chapters committee , a stronger regional chapters committees , stronger district chapters committees , these are the blood tonic for the club.”

Neil has over twenty-seven years of experience in various managerial roles held in organizations operating in the broad areas of Fast Moving Consumer Goods [FMCGs], Logistics, Transportation, Media & Communications, Sponsorship/Fundraising, Sports Business, Marketing Consulting and Management Consulting. Some companies worked with are Unilever [Fast Moving Consumer Goods giant].

Also the Federation Internationale de Football Associations [FIFA], the British Council, Ghana Football Association, Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club Limited, WorldSpace West Africa [Broadcasting/Media], Maersk Ghana Limited [Logistics], Multimedia Broadcasting Corporation [Broadcasting/Media] and Gateway to Africa LLC, UAE.
