Nigeria Female Players Demand Two-Year Unpaid Monies : After their elimination in the round of 16 against England, the players of Nigeria via FIFPRO, representative of the global professional footballers are claiming from their federation unpaid monies since 2021.
After the disappointment, it’s time to settle accounts for the Nigerian women’s national team.
The players did not wish to initiate the process earlier, wishing “to stay focused on their performance without making a public statement and having to deal with other distractions”.
They also left the World Cup without losing a single match, eliminated on penalties in the round of 16 after concluding their first round with a victory and two draws.
“Regrettable” to have to claim these unpaid bills “at such an important time”
“The Super Falcons believe that now is the time for the Nigeria Football Federation to honor its commitments and settle the outstanding amounts,” said the FIFPRO statement, released Tuesday afternoon.
The organization also notes,
“The team is very frustrated that they had to sue the Nigerian Federation for these payments before and during the competition, and may have to continue afterwards.
It is unfortunate that the players need to question their own federation at such an important moment in their careers.”
