Oliver Kahn On Why Sadio Mane is Struggling at Bayern : Bayern Munich chief executive Oliver Kahn has stated a possible reason to explain why Sadio Mane has not replicated his top form for Liverpool at his new club in Germany.
The African footballer of the year reportedly punched teammate Leroy Sane in the face after Bayern Munich were defeated 3-0 by Manchester City on Tuesday at the Etihad Stadium.
Mane came off the bench in the 69th minute to replace Jamal Musiala but could not make any significant contribution to his team.
Bayern Munich officials held a meeting on Wednesday to discuss possible punishments for Mane and, according to Sky Germany, among the sanctions considered were a fine, suspension, and even a parting of the ways in the summer.
Oliver Kahn meanwhile explained (quotes via The Athletic) :
“He’s still in search of himself a little. He’s a player that needs a lot of encouragement. He’s not used to the type of competition for places we have here. It wasn’t like that at Liverpool.
“We hope he will come through for us sooner or later.”
Mane has scored 11 goals and made 5 assists in 32 games for Bayern Munich this season. The Senegalese was ruled out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup through injury and since his comeback from the injury room , things have not been the same.
