Otto Addo Drops Andre Ayew: Otto Addo revealed his 26-man squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifying matches against Mali and Central African Republic and captain of the Black Stars, Andre Ayew, was not selected.
Ayew, who left Premier League side Nottingham Forest in July 2023 joined Le Havre in November of the same year.
“I had a long talk with Andre and for now he is not part of the team. He is a legend but he is not part of the team now. It was a difficult decision honestly. I like him but this is the decision we took”, Otto Addo told the media on Wednesday.
“It is not like we totally greed but I gave him the reasons why he is not part of the team. You can never say never. He can come back to the team, but for now this is the decision we have made”, Addo added.
Ghana take on Mali in Bamako on 6th June before playing at home against Central African Republic four days later in Kumasi.
