Randy Abbey Defends GFA Against Hearts of Oak and Kotoko : Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mr. Randy Abbey , has said that it is not duty of the GFA to make sure Ghanaian football clubs perform well.
The debate on the deterioration of the Ghana Premier League and Ghana football in general was a heated one among officials of Hearts of Oak , Asante Kotoko and the GFA during the course of the 2022/23 league season with Kotoko CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah remarkably saying “they cannot build heaven in hell”.
However , according to Abbey , the clubs are fully responsible for whatever happens to them since they make all the decisions.
“Sometimes people ask questions and we must help them understand. Does the GFA run Kotoko and Hearts? Is the GFA responsible for appointing the Board of directors for the clubs or CEOs for the clubs?” , the former spokesperson of the GFA stated on Kessben TV.
The Heart of Lions boss continued :
“Is the GFA responsible for the Circles and the Chapters? So what are we talking about? Most often the GFA, the GFA ! but clubs are run by individuals and entities. They appoint their CEOs, make their structures, and run their clubs how they want. If the clubs are not doing well, what has that got to do with the GFA? I’m asking you, you live here”
