Richard Ofori Signs New Orlando Pirates Contract : Black Stars goalkeeper Richard Ofori has signed a contract extension with South African Premier Soccer League side Orlando Pirates ahead of the new season.
The 29-year-old signed a year extension with an option to prolong his stay for another year despite his recent injury woes.
The former Wa All Stars goalkeeper was among a number of players who accepted new deals with the club including Vincent Pule who got a two year with an optional extension as well as Thabang Monare, Siyabonga Mpontshane and Ben Motswari who signed deals that end in 2024.
Ofori will be looking to use this opportunity to bounce back from his struggles from last season in which he managed only 13 games in all competitions due to a critical knee injury that kept him on the sidelines for a long period.
As a result, he was left out of the final squad of the Black Stars named by coach Otto Addo for the 2022 World Cup.
His side were successful in winning the MTN 8 title and managed to finish second in the league with 54 points behind Mamelodi Sundowns who clinched the trophy with 16 points more.
Orlando Pirates are therefore qualified to participate in the CAF Champions League for the 2023/24 season which is why the club have begun extending the contracts of important players while looking out to recruit more to be competitive.
Ofori moved from the Ghana Premier League side Wa All Stars now Legon Cities to the South African league in July 2017.
