Takyi Arhin Touts GFA Positives : Aduana Football Club general manager Takyi Arhin says the Ghana Football Association has provided everything that Ghana Premier League clubs need for a smooth 2022/23 season and therefore he does not blame the association for the low stadium attendance seen at most league centers across the country.
Arhin also says the responsibility of promoting matches of the Ghana Premier League and the various competitions of the Ghana Football Association does not rest on the association.
According to the veteran football administrator , it is the duty of the clubs to promote and make sure fans attend their games because the GFA has done their primary job.
“Sometimes when you listen to certain things then you wonder who is speaking. It is not the duty of the GFA to make fans or supporters come to the stadium. The GFA is to create an enabling environment for the clubs. We have got everything we need from the GFA.” , Takyi Arhin , who was a strong critic of the Ghana Football Association during the Kwasi Nyantakyi era , told Kumasi-based Fox FM on Thursday.
Arhin explained further :
“There was no sponsorship but the Kurt administration has given us sponsorship , women football have got a sponsorship , the GFA said they will distribute free PUMA Balls and they have done it , they said they will give us free soccer boots and they have done as promised.
They also do the league table and league fixtures and Star Times telecast live matches of the league. And so it beholds on the clubs , if you come to Dormaa we don’t play in empty stadium , the fans come. If you go to Nsoatre , they don’t play in empty stadium too.
Last Sunday we were at Samreboi and the stadium was full to capacity and so the earlier Hearts of Oak and Kotoko wake up from their slumber the better.
“The playing days and the heydays are over. The modern football is so dynamic now and so you cannot say you are Kotoko so the fans will come to your matches just like that. Why was it that when the free gates were opened the fans did not still come?” , he quizzed.
“It was due to a whole lot of factors. Liverpool and Manchester United were also playing around the same time and the youth of today so much love foreign football.” , Takyi Arhin added.
