The Black Galaxies of Ghana were held 0-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium by Nigeria in the first leg of their 2024 Africa Cup of Nations qualification series.
Despite Mas-Ud Didi Dramani parading Stephen Amankona and Albert Amoah who have netted 5 and 7 goals in the 2024-25 Ghana Premier League respectively, the team failed to create ample cleat cuts scoring chances in the Western Zone B qualifier.
Qualification ties are played on a home-and-away two-legged basis. If the aggregate score is tied after the second leg, the away goals rule would be applied, and if still level, the penalty shoot-out would be used to determine the winner.
There would be no extra time if teams are still on level terms after 90 minutes.
This means any type of win in favour of either national team will them qualify for the 2024 CHAN finals to be hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda in February next year.
However, any form of scoring draw would see the Ghanaian team qualifying ahead of Nigeria while another goalless outcome in 90 minutes would have the contest decided on penalties.
The second leg is scheduled to take place on 26th December.
