Asante Kotoko registered their first victory of the season against Accra Lions on Monday during Week Four of the Ghana Premier League and it was striker Kalo Ouattara who netted the only goal of the game.
Ouattara joined the Porcupine Warriors from Berekum Chelsea this season. He came off the bench in the 60th minute to replace Steven Mukwala before going on to head home the winning goal in the 90 + 9 minute at the Accra sports stadium.
The striker has reacted and this is what he said :
“I feel okay for my first league goal of the season for Kotoko. I thank God we got all the three points. Yes from Monday and the friendly game we played on Wednesday (against Namoro Academy) , looking at the our training we did with the coach there was that confidence and I knew I was going to score in today’s game.”
“For a striker when you have scoring chances , 80% you have to score but when you shoot and you don’t score you keep the focus and I knew I was going to score despite missing a few chances earlier in the game.”
“My motivation for this game was the supporters , they wanted the win against Accra Lions and so that was what motivated me and the team. Before Sherif Mohammed crossed the ball I gave him a signal to cross the ball to me and he did exactly that. He delivered it just exactly how I want me crosses.”
“In football when start to have difficulties at the early part of the season it is sometimes a blessing in disguise and you can improve the season as it progresses but when you start and you are winning , you may be somehow complacent and so it is good for us we will keep on improving. We are praying things continue like this for us.”
“Sunday we have a game against Aduana and what I want to tell the supporters is that they should come to the stadium in numbers and we promise that we are going to do the job for them”
