Zinedine Zidane Rejects PSG Move : Zinedine Zidane was still in the sights of Paris Saint-Germain and according to information of Le Parisien , the former Real Madrid coach has been approached in recent weeks by the capital club to take over from Christophe Galtier but he refused to take the coaching job for the next season.
The 1998 FIFA World Cup winner was present in Paris on Wednesday for an event of the ELA association, of which he is an ambassador.
He was also questioned about his future by one of the children present in the assembly, in a sequence spotted by RMC Sport.
“What is your professional project in the coming months? asked by the latter.
A question that surprised Zinédine Zidane, who said : “Which newspaper do you work for? ” in return. “You surprise me with your question! Me, for the moment, I have nothing planned “, he finally replied, all smiles.
Negotiations started with Julian Nagelsmann
The desire to bring the 1998 Ballon d’Or winner to the Parisian bench, who was also an ambassador for the last World Cup in Qatar, is not new.
In the fall of 2021, it was revealed that a meeting between Zinédine Zidane and among others Leonardo, the sporting director, and Jean-Claude Blanc, general manager of the club, had taken place at the Royal Monceau, a Parisian palace.
Negotiations had been started but could not ultimately succeed, Zidane still hoping at that time to take over from Didier Deschamps at France national team. This became a vanished hope with the extension of the contract of Deschamps last January.
Since then, the leaders of Paris Saint-Germain have explored new avenues and have notably approached Julian Nagelsmann, the former coach of Bayern Munich.
As we indicated this Thursday morning, an appointment was organized this Tuesday in Paris bringing together Luis Campos and a representative of the 35-year-old German technician. Together, they discussed the outlines of a future collaboration.
However, Luis Enrique, former coach of FC Barcelona and coach of Spain, as well as Xabi Alonso, current coach of Bayer Leverkusen, are still part of the tracks followed closely by the club.
