Godwin Ablordey on Ghana Premier League Bad Pitches : King Faisal Football Club assistant coach Godwin Ablordey has mentioned the biggest setback for the Ghana Premier League and according to the former midfielder it is the major reason why the quality of football played by the Ghana Premier League teams continue to deteriorate.
“he 2022/23 season was good but for me the biggest problem making the progress of football in the country is the bad pitches we have at most of the league centers” , Godwin Ablordey said on Kumasi-based Fox FM.
“The pitches at stadiums like the Aliu Mahama sports stadium in Tamale and the El Wak stadium are so horrible.
It is so difficult for the players to control the ball and players easily get injured due to the bad nature of the pitches. This does to help the progress of football in the country” , the former Asante Kotoko captain added.
Ablordey’s King Faisal were relegated from the top-flight after placing 17th on the final league standings of the 2022/23 season and their attempt to avoid the drop via a protest and appeal against Tamale City for the alleged use of an unqualified player failed.
