“I don’t know the exact number of goals I scored in Ghana football” – Charles Taylor admits and calls out GFA to provide complete statistics !

Charles Taylor On Number of Goals He Scored in the GPL : Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko winger Charles Kweku Bismark Taylor Asampong has shockingly revealed that he does not know the exact number of goals he scored for Great Olympics , Hearts and Kotoko during his career as a footballer.

He controversially transferred from Accra Hearts of Oak to arch-rivals Asante Kotoko in 2003 for the then domestic transfer record fee of GH₵ 40,000 (roughly US$42,000).

Charles Taylor essentially boycotted training with Hearts of oak and did not play any games way into the season just to force the move. His first season with Kotoko was a success and he won the Ghana Premier league with Kotoko in 2003.

Till date , this remains the most heated transfer saga in the history of Ghana soccer.

Taylor was known to be a talented dribbler , a good goal scorer and provided plenty of assists for his teammates to score but according to the former Ghana international , he does not know the exact number of goals he netted in the elite Ghanaian championship.

“I think I scored more than 67 goals for Hearts of Oak. I don’t know the exact number of goals I scored but maybe I scored more than the 67.” , Charles Taylor revealed on Kumasi-based Fox FM on Tuesday.

“In terms of the number of games played too I don’t know the exact number of games I played for Hearts but what I can say is that I played all the matches during my three years with the club. I played all the games including the CAF Champions League” , the Hearts of Oak legend added.

“At Kotoko I think I scored 6 goals in one season. If you look at the way we do things here , complete data compilation has been a problem. If you compare our time to now , you can see that during our time recoding of statistics like goals scored , games played by players were not there.

That is not our job as players. We should have people to be doing such work”

“Last time I went to the GFA and they showed me my Ghana Black Stars data ; I played 64 matches and scored 19 goals but I did not know so I even took a screenshot of it.” , Charles Taylor concluded.
