Hafiz Wontah Wants to Make a Prudent Decision : Hafiz Wontah Konkoni says he does not want to fall into the category of Ghana Premier League players who fail to perform after joining teams in North Africa and Europe as the 23-year old wants to make a prudent decision on his future.
Player exodus has not stopped but a significant portion of players who leave the country in search of better contracts at foreign clubs end up as surplus to requirements after just some few years and it is exactly what Hafiz is wary of.
“These days Ghanaian players fail to perform outside Ghana and I don’t want to fall into that category and God willing my case will not be like that when I leave.” , Hafiz Wontah said.
“Let me add that my decision will not be based on just money. I want to go to a place where I will play all the time. If it was about the money for me then I would have left Bechem long time. I don’t want to go to a club where I will not get playing time and people will be saying whole lot of things.”
“I can say that I have received a lot of offers and I am studying all of them to see which one will help my career. Right now I cannot say where my future lies , only God knows. After the Black Stars game I have been contacted by many agents and some clubs including Hearts of Oak and Medeama but Kotoko are not included and some teams from Tanzania too. In the coming days I will decide.” , the 23-year old attacker stated on Fox FM in Kumasi.
Medeama will represent Ghana in the 2023/24 CAF Champions League , a competition for which no Ghanaian side has reached the group stages since Berekum Chelsea did so in 2012 and the addition of the 23-year old to the team of Evans Adotey will be a huge boost.
As for Hearts of Oak , they are in a serious search of a top-notch goal scorer after narrowly escaping relegation from the Ghana Premier League of the 2022/23 season.
