Serious Allegations Made Against Samuel Eto’o : Former vice-president of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), Henri Njalla Quan has strongly criticized Samuel Eto’o, the current leader of the body. He notably blamed him for the sidelining of André Onana, the former goalkeeper of the Indomitable Lions.
Resentments within Cameroonian football are tenacious. After the sidelining of André Onana which had caused tensions during the World Cup, the former vice-president of the Federation, Henri Njalla Quan, criticized the actions of Samuel Eto’o.
In the columns of Marca, the former leader criticized the president of Fecafoot “for stifling the stars of the national team”, ensuring that Eto’o was trying to get rid of the Inter goalkeeper.
“The call of Onana to the national team depends on the president of the Federation. I asked Eto’o a formal question about André’s future, he replied that his (Onana) international career was over, ”he said.
“Eto’o had promised not to receive his salary as president of the Federation, where is this promise?
In addition to the alleged relationship problems with the players, the former vice-president of FECAFOOT accused Eto’o of assuming too much power within the framework of his mandate.
“He had promised not to receive his salary as president of the Federation, where is this promise? No member of the general assembly has ever proposed to extend the mandate of the president from four to seven years. Eto’o manipulated an entire country!”
Henri Njalla Quan even assured that Eto’o had investigated him : “He gave a million francs (CFA) to a football official to watch me, this man began to threaten my family. The prosecutor had to take measures to guarantee my safety.”
In June 2022, Eto’o was sentenced to 22 months in prison for having defrauded more than three million euros from the Spanish public treasury between 2006 and 2009.
