OFFICIAL : Ghana 2010 World Cup star Kevin-Prince Boateng retires from football !

Former Black Stars midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng has officially announced his retirement from football at the age of 36.

The German-born Ghanaian began his professional career with German club Hertha BSC and eventually retired after spending the last two seasons of his career with the same team.

“I LOVE YOU. But that’s a WRAP for me 🫡 Thank you FOOTBALL for everything ‼️” , he wrote on social media.

Boateng’s announcement brings to an end an envious career that saw him feature for about 15 clubs including Barcelona, AC Milan Tottenham Hotspurs, and Borussia Dortmund.

He won four trophies including the Italian Serie A with AC Milan and the Spanish La Liga with Barcelona.

In 520 matches, Boateng scored 76 goals and provided 56 assists with his clubs while putting up impressive performances at the national level despite a limited number of games.

The former German youth international switched nationality to Ghana and got selected for the 2010 World Cup which was held in South Africa.

He grabbed the opportunity and made a massive impact including scoring Ghana’s first goal in the round of 16 tie against the USA which Ghana eventually emerged victorious progressing to the quarter-finals for the first time.

He was also part of the squad that represented Ghana at the 2014 World Cup but generated controversial conversations which eventually saw his exit from the nationality.

Kevin-Prince Boateng is the brother of former Bayern Munich star Jerome Boateng who opted to play for Germany.
