CAF President : As an influential member of the ruling African National Congress (ANC) the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Patrice Motsepe is expected to be the next leader of his political party next December.
The coming days are indeed decisive for Patrice Motsepe.
A few days before the election of the ANC (the incumbent party in South Africa), the billionaire president of CAF and the largest financial contributor to the ANC, is faced with a rather difficult choice.
Considered at 59 as one of the richest personalities in South Africa, and even tipped for the presidency of this country, Patrice Motsepe is the subject of several calls for candidates for the presidency of the ANC.
Reports that billionaire businessman Patrice Motsepe has been nominated for the ANC presidency have been met with mixed reactions.
According to reports, there is a push by a branch in Limpopo for Motsepe to contest the position against President Cyril Ramaphosa.
The CAF president has yet to publicly confirm if he will accept the nomination.
Meanwhile the election is scheduled for mid-December.
Between the former South African president, Jacob Zuma, mired in scandals and forced to resign in 2018, and his successor, Cyril Ramaphosa, also targeted for a few months by an investigation around mysterious sums discovered during a burglary in one of his properties, and of which he is the brother-in-law, Patrice Motsepe seems to be the darling of South Africans now.
Arrived at the head of CAF in a surprising way and today also challenged for his so-called approximate management at the head of the umbrella institution of football in Africa, we still wonder about the choice that Patrice Motsépé will make.
But do you think it Patrice Motsepe will leave CAF for the ANC Presidency?
